Tutorial

The library catalogue allows you to access information about the collection, borrow and reserve resources and also check your own borrower account. It is a web based catalogue and is generally easy to navigate. It has similar qualities to that of many search engines and provides a layout which is clear, concise and easy to understand. Please note that this catalogue is shared by other Glasgow-based colleges and that searches may at times result in displaying resources which are held at a different site. If the Library does not have this resource and you require it as part of your studies, please contact a member of staff about ordering this title.

Step By Step Guide

This is the front page of the catalogue, providing the basic search option. There is also the option of a powered search and a link allowing you to access your library account. In the text box you can enter a keyword: this would allow the catalogue to search the library resources and find an appropriate match.

You will then be shown a page of results and by clicking on the title, you can tell where that resource is located on the shelf, and whether it is available to borrow.

If the item is on loan, you then have the option to request that the item is reserved for you.

My Account

The catalogue allows you to check your own borrower account. If you click on the My Account link, you are taken to a log-in page. Here you enter the username on your student card which begins with AN.

All students need to have a PIN number to log in - this is set at 4321 for everyone (except staff, who can obtain their individual PIN from Library staff).

You are then shown an overview of your account details. You can find out how many items you have borrowed, how many are overdue, and so on. By clicking on the 'checked out' button, you can see a list of all the items you have issued to you and their return date. You can also renew items on this page.
